GEF Gold+: Advancing Formalization and Mercury-Free Gold Suriname

The Suriname Child Project, part of the planetGOLD+ Global Program, aims to reduce the use of mercury in the Artisanal and Small-scale Gold Mining (ASGM) sector in Suriname. It adopts a holistic, multi-sectoral, and integrated approach to formalize the sector, increase access to finance, and promote sustainable, mercury-free technologies and responsible gold supply chains.
