Nov 13, 2020

The SERF outlines the short- and medium-term support of all UN agencies in India to mitigate the socioeconomic impacts of COVID-19. It covers the support of the UN system in India from November 2020 until 31 December 2021. It highlights the immediate challenges and critical gaps in overcoming the main socioeconomic challenges facing India, the steps already taken to mitigate the adverse effects of the crisis, and suggested recovery pathways for India. It pays special attention to the impact of the crisis on vulnerable populations in India.
The Framework is aligned with the UN Global Framework for the Immediate Socio- economic Response to COVID-19It builds on the document entitled COVID-19 Immediate Socio-Economic Response by the UN in India submitted to Niti Aayog in May 2020, providing an initial overview of the UN system’s immediate support to the government. And it is anchored in the priorities outlined in the UN Development Assistance Framework for India (2018–22) In terms of longer-term recovery, the Framework proposes strategic policy dialogues with the Government of India, focusing on a recovery path that is inclusive and green and that upholds gender parity and human rights.
