In his speech, Mr Muhammad Sarir Khan said, “KP Bar Council is taking many initiatives to improve gender equality, and it will continue its efforts in promoting more women to join the legal profession.” He also expressed his thanks to UNDP and USAID for their efforts to empower women lawyers in KP and the Merged Areas.
UNDP Pakistan’s Assistant Resident Representative, Mr Rana Kaiser Ishaque, expressed his gratitude to USAID and the KP Bar Council for their long-term partnership with UNDP, and underlined, “This work is crucial to making our justice system more equitable and accessible to all because the presence of more women lawyers will encourage more women litigants to seek help from the formal justice sector.” He also thanked the UNDP Rule of Law Programme for its ongoing efforts to support and empower women lawyers in KP and the Merged Areas.
The UNDP Rule of Law Programme is implementing a range of interventions to strengthen security and justice sector governance in Pakistan.
