Uganda has made important development strides in recent years, reaching medium Human Development Index status in 2023 and setting its sights on upper-middle income status by 2040. Covering the period from 2021 to 2024, the Independent Country Programme Evaluation (ICPE) of Uganda recognizes the programme’s strong alignment with national priorities and its contributions to justice reform, climate resilience, and youth livelihoods. At the same time, it identifies challenges such as uneven local-level impact, limited cross-pillar integration, and the need for greater strategic focus. The report offers valuable lessons to strengthen UNDP’s role in supporting Uganda’s inclusive, sustainable, and equitable development in the years ahead.
