Legal Framework

The partnership between the Government of Mozambique and UNDP dates back to 1976, when the Standard Basic Service Agreement (SBSA), which provides the legal framework for the cooperation, was signed by both parties. UNDP cooperation in Mozambique has, since the end of the transition period from war to peace in the mid-1990s, focused on the broad areas of deepening the roots of multi-party democracy, particularly with a focus on participatory local governance; poverty eradication; environment and natural resource management; and on HIV/AIDS.
