VISIONING MALDIVES: LEADERSHIP DIALOGUES - FIRST SERIES ON STRATEGIC FORESIGHT HELD

First series of the 'Visioning Maldives: Leadership Dialogues' held

Malé, March 15, 2022: The President’s Office of the Maldives, together with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in the Maldives will host ‘Visioning Maldives: Leadership Dialogues’ as part of the Executives Enhancement and Enrichment Program (EEEP) 2021-2023 of the Maldives Civil Service Training Institute under its Civil Service Commission.

This series will expose leaders to the latest trends in public administration, development policy and innovation. Each session will bring together global experts and top political officials to solicit exchange and knowledge sharing on 21st century leadership to inspire and support the Government of Maldives in leapfrogging into a ‘future proof’ development nation.

The first session of the ‘Visioning Maldives’ dialogues will be held virtually on March 23, 2022. The session will be on ‘Leading through Uncertainty: Strategic Foresight’ and explore how public administration can evolve to meet the continued uncertainties and complexities of the 21st century.

This session will see the participation of Enrico Gaveglia, UNDP Resident Representative to the Maldives, to deliver the welcome remarks and moderate the session. The first session will have Aarathi Krishnan, Strategic Advisor on Foresight from the UNDP Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific highlighting on risk changing and its impact on development pathways as well as the importance of thinking long-term. The session will also be attended by Leith Veremaito, Director of the Department of Local Authorities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Vanuatu as Guest Speaker, who will share his experience on the practical application of Strategic Foresight from the Government of Vanuatu. Mohamed Aslam, Minister of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure will deliver the opening remarks of the session.

This high-level policy dialogue will familiarise participants with futures-informed anticipatory governance approaches and models.
