The paper outlines the results of the survey aimed to reveal and analyze the main challenges and opportunities of economic diversification in eight targeted municipalities: Akhalkalaki, Borjomi, Dedoplistskaro, Ka­zbegi, Keda, Khulo, Lagodekhi, and Tetritskaro.

The research project was comprised of the sub-studies conducting a study of the population and also learning about exist­ing non-farm enterprises.

The survey was prepared with the assistance from the European Union (EU) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) under the EU Neighbourhood Programme for Agriculture and Rural Development (ENPARD).
