The United Nations System in Peru continues to work in a coordinated manner with the Peruvian Government in face of the situation caused by heavy rains and landslides in various regions of the country.

As part of the international emergency response system, the UN activated the UNDAC (United Nations Disaster Assessment and Coordination) mechanism to make available to the Government international capacity for rapid inter-sectoral assessments, as well as to facilitate coordination and Information management.

This has allowed the arrival in Peru of a technical mission of 10 international experts in emergency management. The experts will carry out a situation analysis to assist the proposals of the Peruvian government for immediate response and recovery in the medium and long term.

The UNDAC mission will work with the National Humanitarian Network, international cooperation and civil society in close coordination with all the instances of the State responsible for emergency management.

In addition, the United Nations System in Peru, through its various agencies, funds and programs, continues its technical support to the State and humanitarian assistance in the different affected areas.
