UNDP Rwanda Accelerator Lab

We leverage innovation and technology to accelerate development to map, explore and test innovative solutions to impact lives.

The UNDP Rwanda Accelerator Lab is working on innovation in policy design by partnering with the Ministry of ICT and Innovation to establish a policy lab in Rwanda.

The policy lab is a new working framework that will help the Government of Rwanda to test policies before they are implemented. Through the policy lab, the Accelerator Lab and the Ministry of ICT and Innovation are piloting a waste management policy by introducing smart waste management solutions in households.

The Lab also leverages the potential of modern technologies to accelerate development with innovations for disability inclusion. We are working on using 3D printing to produce prosthetics and orthotics.

We are experimenting on designing a smart white cane to help visually impaired people to move freely and safely. We are experimenting with innovation in urban agriculture by planting Irish and sweet potatoes in garden grow bags to increase food production in urban areas.
