The 2nd United Nations South Asia Forum on Business and Human Rights will take place 17–19 March 2021, with side sessions starting from 15 March. The forum, featuring dedicated sessions for CSOs, businesses, trade unions, and NHRIs as well as country-specific sessions, is co-organized by the UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights (UNWG), the International Labour Organization (ILO), and the United Nations Development Programme’s Business and Human Rights in Asia initiative.
The forum will explore a diverse set of thematic issues, as well as challenges and opportunities faced by specific countries in the sub-region. Discussions on the forum will inform "Business and human rights: towards a decade of global implementation" a project of the UN Working Group on Buisness and Human Rights which aims to assess existing gaps and challenges, and develop a vision and roadmap for scaling up the implementation of the UN Guiding Principles over the next decade.
All the sessions will be live streamed. Participants will be informed on how to join sessions after they have registered for the Forum.
The first UN South Asia Forum on Business and Human Rights – held in New Delhi, India, 14–15 March 2019 – brought together over 200 participants representing over 90 organizations from 16 countries. The video report of the forum is available here.
