Our Regional Programme
An integral part of UNDP Regional Bureau for Arab States, the Regional Programme for Arab States 2018-2021 is framed around two outcomes:
1. To assist partners in advancing regional cooperation and policy dialogue on inclusive and sustainable growth, while tackling climate change and environmental protection;
2. To focus on the root causes of conflict and governance deficits, facilitating stakeholders’ cooperation to counteract fragilities, promote democratic reforms and fostering resilience.
Growing in size and scope, the programme currently includes more than 10 initiatives covering different thematic areas, which have significantly contributed to advance regional priorities, and it is expected to deliver around USD 50 million throughout its cycle.
Committed to promote thought leadership, the programme has developed around 240 knowledge products since 2014. Working with regional networks to advance cooperation and collective action, the programme has established and strengthened partnership with more than 10 regional institutions, including the League of Arab States, the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF), the Coordination Group of Arab Funds (CG), the Arab Youth Center (AYC).
Since 2018, it has engaged with 15,000 stakeholders through more than 80 regional and country-level activities. The regional programme has a diversified funding base, with key donors including the governments of Sweden, Japan and Korea, the European Union, MBRF and CG.
