SURF-WCA: Serving West and Central Africa Country Offices

Welcome to UNDP's Sub-Regional Resource Facility for West and Central Africa (SURF-WCA). Our duty is to provide high quality substantive support to UNDP's country offices in the West and Central Africa sub-region to further strengthen their role as leading partners in overcoming development challenges.

Our areas of concentration fall within the Practice Areas of Poverty Reduction, Democratic Governance, Energy and Environment (mainly through the Global Environment Fund) and HIV/AIDS ; and the crosscutting areas of Gender, Capacity Development., and Knowledge Management and Resource Mobilization. Additionally, support to the achievements of the MDGs is envisaged by our team. Furthermore, access to resources offered by the Global Centers of Poverty in Brasilia, Governance in Oslo, and Drylands Development in Nairobi are coordinated by the SURF.
The SURF-WCA is also working on alternative strategies to adequately respond to the new and growing demand for services from the country offices. Some of these strategies will consist on the production of knowledge products that can be used by a greater number of country offices.
