Key strategic focus
  • Microinsurance: Demand & Market Prospects in India, Indonesia, and Laos
    • The project aims to provide market research to estimate demand for microinsurance interventions in the three major Asian markets by UNDP - Allianz – GTZ partnership.
    • The objectives of this activity include the estimate of the demand for microinsurance and the potential supply of microinsurance, the exploration of the option of undertaking pilot initiatives, and facilitation of dialogue and cooperation between the insurance industry, governments, and civil society.
  • The Coca Cola Company & UN Partnership for Post-Tsunami Recovery - Empowering Communities to Meet Water & Sanitation Needs
    • UNF matched TCCC contribution of US$1 million to undertake sustainable community-based approach to providing access to water and sanitation services in selected Tsunami hit areas
    • The framework for the partnership activities has been agreed upon:
      (1) Primary focus on community based sustainable water and sanitation with an emphasis on enhanced access to these services and in a livelihoods framework;
      (2) All activities must be demand driven;
      (3) Ensure ownership of the programmatic activities by the relevant UN country level teams as well TCCC affiliates and bottlers;
      (5) Strategic interventions should balance the need to urgently address water and sanitation needs and contribute to a longer-term focus on service expansion.
  • Strategic Workshop on Remittances
    • Based on the ongoing work in the RBEC region, Somalia and that undertaken by the Unit for South-South Cooperation, CDG-Public Private Partnerships Programme is planning a strategic brainstorming workshop in partnership with the private sector partners, civil society and multilateral organization to refine UNDP’s possible interventions in the area of remittances.

    • The core goal of the programme is to increase the access of the urban poor to basic services such as water, sanitation, solid waste management and energy by promoting inclusive partnerships between local government, business and communities

  • Toolkit for Private Sector Development
  • BDP will facilitate PSD from the perspective of capacity development, enabling environment and good governance. Its interventions will use partnerships between the state institutional framework, private sector and the civil society as the starting point.
