Engaging in Public Private Partnerships in order to improve the access of the urban poor to essential services requires a wide range of skills and the development of strong multidisciplinary teams. PPPUE recognises that these specialist PPP skills need development at a range of levels and in a range of ways appropriate to the target audience. The GLN and its partners will support the development of a global cadre of highly trained and experienced PPP professionals by developing a range capacity development tools. A key activity developed by PPPUE and our GLN partner Yale University is the PPP Distance Learning course. The course aims to ensure that the next generation of decision makers are equipped the with the skills necessary to engage in PPP within their specialist field. This course offers post graduate level practitioners, students and researchers the opportunity to develop and share their knowledge of public-private partnerships in a manner which encourages interaction between students and trainers in institutions worldwide. Participating institutions are provided with a substantive framework for the course on which they have the opportunity to build materials of direct local relevance. Those already engaging in PPP will also be provided with support by the GLN. Through linking the experience gained through PPPUE country level activities in the National Programmes and Innovative Partnership Grants to the activities of the GLN, PPPUE will collect, analyse, and disseminate lessons learned in the form of highly practical and locally relevant tools for capacity building and training. These tools will be made available to GLN partners through a series of training courses and workshops and through these web pages. |
