Thematic Trust Fund

The Poverty Reduction Thematic Trust Fund (TTF) was designed as part of UNDP's strategic plan under the Global Cooperation Framework (GCF) 2001-2003, which aligns the organization's global programmes more closely with country level services.

The Poverty Reduction TTF complements UNDP's regular work funded from its core resources along four service lines:

i) benchmarking and monitoring poverty,
ii) participatory processes,
iii) pro-poor policies and
iv) piloting and innovations.

UNDP's Country Office proposals to aid country-level monitoring of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and/or the formulation of Poverty Reduction Strategies are considered for funding under the Poverty TTF.

The final allocation of TTF resources is decided by a Standing Committee on the Poverty TTF, in accordance with the recommendations of UNDP's Regional Bureaus and technical reviews by the Bureaux of Development Policy (BDP).

The first tranche of the Poverty TTF mobilized $10.6 million and through the first window, a total of 73 projects were selected, of which 82% are country level projects and 18% are regional or global projects. 48% of the country disbursements are in Least Developed Countries.
