Many countries need to supplement domestic resources with aid in order to invest in growth and sustainable human development. UNDP supports efforts to increase aid to developing countries to support progress towards the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Aid also needs to be made to work more effectively - a shared responsibility of donor and recipient countries. With this aim in mind, UNDP helps the governments of developing countries improve their national aid management architecture, and take the lead in coordinating and monitoring the impacts of aid.
