Local Economic Development AgencyThe objectives of the Local Economic Development Agency - LEDA– are to harmonize national and local policies to increase the long-term competitiveness of local development actors, and at the same time to encourage them to meet the MDGs: social inclusion, gender equity, access to basic services, environment; and to create an environment that favours economic internationalisation, international partnerships, foreign private investment, and emigrant remittances. LEDA brings the following to regional and local authorities – (1) Institutions: autonomous legal structures that allow the local authorities to make their own decisions on policies for sustainable and human economic development; (2) Skills for SMEs, credit services, negotiations with local banks, fundraising to finance projects and create jobs; and (3) Finance: It is the local reference for international partnerships and foreign investment. |
