Recycling Value Chain
Lead Companies: Ball Packaging Recan, Pan Paper, Brzan Plast and GreenTech/GreenFiber

An innovative business model is under dicussion in Serbia with several key regional players in recycling, each with a core business interest in sourcing a particluar secondary raw material (scrap paper/cardboard, aluminum and PET/plastics) from more effective waste collection and management system, that will also allow individual collectors - predominantly members of the Roma community - to form cooperatives and small businesses and formalise their activity through partnerships with local government, public waste collection companies and thereby attract investment into the sector by reputable lead companies. A pilot joint invstment is being evaluated by the lead companies into transport and processing equipment for collectors' cooperatives in three municipalities in Serbia (out of some 170 municipalities in total).
