GSB in Moldova

The GSB Moldova programme was introduced in June 2006 with co-funding from the Austrian Development Agency and officially launched with the Moldova Global Compact initiative in November 2006.

GSB Broker Aurelia Braguta is responsible for identifying pro-poor investment opportunities, developing innovative business models, brokering partnerships between key stakeholders, and marketing projects to both local and international investors. She works closely with the GSB Moldova Coordinating Group, chaired by the Minister of Economy and composed of representatives from Transparency International, the Austrian Embassy, the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency MIEPO, the Foreign Investment Association, ACSA – National Rural Agency and UNDP.

GSB in Moldova has focused on sectors with the highest potential for development impact. GSB has delivered concrete linkages with investors and market partners to a number of projects, demonstrating GSB’s value added approach to small economies with few strong domestic investors. GSB in Moldova has also developed new business models building on Moldova’s competitive advantages.

Market Linkages for Moldovan Wine
Lead companies: Domain Menada, Suvorov Vin, Purcari
Russia’s 2006 ban on Moldovan wine imports terminated relations with 80% of the country’s wine export customer base.
