1. Clean water supply
2. Animal waste treatment and biogas generation
Active Projects
Community-based clean water project
Lead Company: Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd.
Over 100 million people in Indonesia lack access to safe water and more than 70% of the country’s population relies on water obtained from potentially contaminated sources. Innovations in financing the water sector are essential if the potential of water in poverty reduction is to be realized. This could include participation from the private sector and the poor themselves, in addition to, the traditional public projects and international donations. Mobilizing private resources for implementing water supply and facilitating the market development by the socially-minded private companies is a niche where GSB fits. The success of market-based water supply projects rely on the community ownership of the water treatment facilities through effective community water management mechanisms, compliant with appropriate standards and regulations. Energy for Poverty Alleviation
Lead Company: PT. Gikoko Kogyo Indonesia
Pasuruan is known for its dairy cattle farming, its milk production and producing raw materials to a multi-national dairy industry. While the number of the dairy cows is increasing annually, the treatment facility for the cow manure waste has not been installed and the neglect is causing serious environmental and health problems. In response to the special request from Municipality Pasuruan district, the company signed a MOU to provide its technology to solve the animal waste issues. The envisioned solution is an anaerobic digester of manure in the community, capturing the bio gas and distributing it to selected locations in the village for communal cooking and boiling water eliminating need for purchasing kerosene or relying on firewood.
