Support to the Communication Initiative

UNDP has supported the excellent work of The Communication Initiative (CI). This is an online space for sharing experiences and building bridges between people and organisations engaged in or supporting communication as a fundamental strategy for development. It does this through a process of initiating dialogue and debate and giving the network a stronger, more representative and informed voice with which to advance the use and improve the impact of communication for development. This process is supported by web-based resources of summarised information and several electronic publications, as well as online research, review, and discussion platforms providing insight into communication for development experiences.

CI has recently launched its new digital knowledge sharing, networking, and interaction platform at http://www.comminit.com The website includes over 35,000 knowledge summaries of programme action, strategic thinking, planning models, evaluation/research results, change theories, etc. across the full range of development issues including Democracy and Governance, Environment, Natural Resource Management, New Technologies, Rights, and others - see http://www.comminit.com/issues.html This knowledge is submitted for sharing from the network of 70,000 plus people and organisations in 200plus countries and territories who have joined The CI network. Other features are available, including development news, various polls, discussion forums, blogs, etc. OGC is proud to have supported the development of a Democracy and Governance Theme Site that provides all CI information related to democracy and governance issues in one place.
