The Practice Note on Access to Information

The Access to Information practice note establishes a strategic framework for the support UNDP provides to access to information. At the core of this framework is one central objective – to lever support in a way that maximizes people’s participation, especially the poor, in democratic and policy-making processes. The practice note also introduces a conceptual model for access to information which situates interrelated access to information and communications components within the framework of the key governance principles of transparency, active participation and responsiveness/accountability.
