Women in Politics Project, Sudan

Funding : US$ 2.756 Million - entirely funded by the Netherlands government

Overall objective: The purpose of this project is to contribute to good governance based on partnerships between men and women in the political sphere – partnerships that are instrumental to realizing human rights and achieving sustainable peace and development. To this end, the project will:
• Enable women to acquire the skills and knowledge required to effectively participate in policy- and decision-making at the grass-roots and national level.
• Raise awareness amongst Sudanese citizens on the importance of including women in political processes.

Specific objectives:

-To increase the knowledge base amongst, and the proportion of, women in political processes and institutions.
- To empower the Sudanese society at large by raising the awareness of women’s role in the society and contribution to economic growth, political advancement, social inclusion and justice.
