Update on Implementation Status: 23 January 2009 Letter to Participating Organizations

In early 2009, the MDTF Office plans to introduce a web-based reporting portal through which the Participating UN Organizations will submit and view both financial and narrative reports related to all Multi-Donor Trust Funds (MDTFs) and Joint Programmes (JPs) administered by the MDTF Office.

The launch of the portal was officially announced to all Participating Organizations in August 2008. On 20 October 2008, the Draft Financial Reporting Specifications Document was circulated to the Finance Divisions of the Participating Organizations. Following consultations with Finance Divisions of all Participating UN Organizations the document was approved at the meeting of the UNDG working group on Joint Funding, Finance and Audit in Rome of 10 December 2008. It was agreed that Participating Organizations would provide their financial reports in the single spread-sheet format as outlined in the Financial Specifications Document.

To provide the financial reports in the correct format, the Participating Organizations will use new project numbers as the main reference numbers for each Programme or Joint Programme. A complete list of the new Reference Numbers can be fund here.
