Kyoto Protoco


The Protocol is an international agreement that sets legally binding targets and timetables for cutting the greenhouse-gas (GHG) emissions of countries. The UNFCCC website provides information on Kyoto’s background, mechanisms, reporting and compliance. (i) Text of the Kyoto Protocol in various languages.

United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) The Convention on Climate Change which entered into force in 1994 sets an overall framework for intergovernmental efforts to tackle the challenge posed by climate change. (i) Text of the Convention in various languages.

Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) The CDM provides for industrialized countries (Annex I) to implement projects that reduce emissions in developing countries (non Annex I) in return for Certified Emissions Reductions (CERs). (i) CDM Statistics.

Joint Implementation (JI)
