Tracking the MDGs: Country progress

UN Country Teams have been helping countries prepare national
reports that measure progress towards the MDGs. The emphasis is on national
ownership as well as accurate benchmarking of progress, so wherever
possible these are done in close collaboration with the government as
well as civil society groups. So far, national MDG reports had been
published in more than140 countries; in the best cases they have led to
better policy analysis, a sharper focus on priorities, clearer target
setting and ultimately to improved national economic and social policies.
