Advocacy for the MDGs: Media Partnerships

UNDP TV Partnerships

UNDP's TV partnerships make use of the communication power of television in order to foster the Millennium Development Goals. They contribute to raising awareness of the key development challenges of our time, and to secure support for international cooperation.

UNDP & BBC

In 2003, the Millennium Campaign, working with UNDP entered into a partnership with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) to raise awareness of the MDGs entitled 2015:Where will we be?. This partnership has since evolved in an undertaking in collaboration with the UNDG. The objective is to provide anecdotal evidence through the voices of ordinary citizens across the world on the progress made in achieving the Goals via the BBC's World Service language programmes.

The project began in early 2003 with pilot initiatives in Africa and Asia comprised of radio programmes and related broadcast events, and a television programme. Africa and Asia have been selected for the pilot initiative of the project because the MDGs face their most significant challenges in those regions. A second phase expanded the number of radio and TV series and broadened the coverage to other languages and regions. The BBC 2105 campaign has since burgeoned into a multi-faceted, global outreach and initiative. Click here to see more.
