Bo joined UNDP in 1998, initially as the Chief Technical Advisor for the GEF's National Communications Support Programme for Climate Change - a programme which provided assistance to 130 countries.

Before moving on to her current position as the head of the Capacity Development and Adaptation Cluster, which covers all focal areas, she launched a number of climate change initiatives covering nearly 40 countries, including Least Developed Countries. Prior to joining UNDP, Bo carried out global climate research, environmental management for corporations, and environmental assessments for government, primarily in the Far East.

Bo holds a PhD (honors) in atmospheric chemistry on the dispersion of pollutants, and was fellow of the Royal Society, United Kingdom. She has published around 40 journal articles and international methodologies, including those for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
