UNDP- GEF Regional Workshop“Towards Energy Efficiency Thermal Building Codes and Appliance Standards & Labels in the Mediterranean Countries” Hammamet, Tunisia Dear participant, The UNDP Tunisia country office, in collaboration with the National
Agency for Energy Conservation (ANME), is pleased to welcome you from
23 to 25 November 2005 to Hammamet for the UNDP-GEF Regional Workshop
on Energy Efficiency Building Codes and Appliance Standards & Labels
in the Mediterranean Countries. • Travel and DSA DSA rate for November 2005 is 114 US$ per day (151 TND). The travel
costs will be charged either on the PDF-A “Market Transformation
for Building Codes, Energy Efficiency Standards and Labels in Arab States”
for some participants from Jordan, Lebanon and Palestine, or on ongoing
UNDP-GEF projects for the others. • Visa All travelers are required to verify if an entry visa is necessary and to make arrangements to obtain a visa prior to commencing their travel to Tunisia. This should be done as soon as possible to prevent any possible problems or delays. In case of no Tunisian consular representation in your country of departure, please contact Nadia Bechraoui for assistance as rapidly as possible (nadia.bechraoui@undp.org). • Security Clearance No security clearance is required for travel to Tunisia. • Workshop Venue The workshop is being held at the Medina Mediterranea, Yasmine Hammamet.
The Medina Mediterranea is located in the south of Hammamet, around 70 kms (45 minutes) from the International Airport of Tunis Carthage. This is the reconstruction of an old town which talks about destinies ans legends, combines Art and Culture in an architecture inspired by the Arab imprint in the Mediterranean and the Orient. The Medina contains 190 suites-appartments located in 3 residences
5*. It is highly preferred that all participants reside at the Medina Mediterranea. However, should you choose to make alternative accommodation arrangements, please notify Nadia Bechraoui (nadia.bechraoui@undp.org), no later than 16 November 2005. • Currency You will find some exchange offices at the airport or at other any bank. For information, the official UN exchange rate for November 2005 is : 1.00 US Dollar = 1,33 TND. • Transportation from and to the airport Airport pick up can be arranged for all participants at a special rate of 20 TND (15 US$) per person per trip. Participants who require airport pick-up should notify it in the registration form attached. Please note that regular taxis can not assume transportation from the airport to Hammamet. • Climate In the second half of November, the weather will be nice and sunny in the morning, and cool in the evening, with temperatures from 25 C during the day to 12 C at night. Bring warm clothes with you. • Voltage The voltage in Tunisia is 220V at 50H. The outlets generally accept one type of plug with two round pins. If you travel to Tunisia with a device that does not accept 220 Volts at 50 Hertz, you will need a voltage converter. Although most laptops are designed for travelers and auto-sense and auto-switch between 100 and 240 volts, participants need to check for this capability before bringing their equipment.
