Determining national priorities is vital to accessing climate financing; countries with strong national climate policies are in the best position to access climate funds from sources such as the GEF Trust Fund.

The Caatinga is one of the most threatened biomes in Brazil, with more than 50 percent of its original cover transformed by human action. To address those threats, UNDP and GEF partnered with the Government of Brazil to implement the project Demonstrations of Integrated Ecosystem and Watershed Management in the Caatinga.
