Partners

Swedish International Development Agency

Sida is a government agency reporting to the Ministry for Foreign Affairs responsible for most of Sweden’s contributions to international development cooperation. The goal of Sida’s work is to improve the standard of living of poor people and to eradicate poverty. The UNDP/Sida Partnerships on mainstreaming environment in UNDP started in 1999 with the aim of developing systematic means of integrating environmental considerations into all UNDP policies, programmes, and operations. The Partnership initially focused on assessing opportunities and needs for building UNDP’s environmental capacity and expertise, and subsequently addressing the development of a corporate policy and strategy for environmental mainstreaming, a monitoring system to assess the implementation of the strategy, and targeted pilot activities to test mainstreaming approaches.

OECD/DAC Sustainable Development, Environment, and Development Co-operation

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development/Development Co-operation Directorate’s work in sustainable development is carried out, in part, through the Network on Environment and Development Co-operation (ENVIRONET) – an international platform for discussions between environment experts on approaches to sustainable development, for sharing experiences and good practices of environmental mainstreaming. ENVIRONET’s mandate is “to contribute to the formulation of coherent approaches to sustainable development in the context of the OECD cross-sectoral approach to sustainable development.”
