"Delivering human security through multi-level governance"

The European Policy Centre (EPC) and the UN/UNDP Brussels office are hosting the launch of the new UNDP-United Nations University (UNU-CRIS) publication, Delivering Human Security Through Multi-Level Governance. Antonio Vigilante, Director of the UN/UNDP Brussels office will introduce the discussion and present the booklet together with the co-authors Dr. Luk Van Langenhove, Director UNU-CRIS, Bruges, Emmanuel Fanta, Monica Ferro and Tiziana Scaramagli. Reactions and comments will come from Dr. Massimo Tommasoli, Permanent Observer to the UN, International IDEA and Karen Fogg, Head of Unit for United Nations and the Treaties Office, DG RELEX, European Commission. 7th EC-UNDP-IDEA Joint Training on Effective Electoral Assistance
Building on the content, structure and experiences of previous trainings, the EC-UNDP Joint Task Force on Electoral Assistance and International IDEA, in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and the Organization of American States (OAS), will carry out a five day face-to-face training targeting EC, UNDP and IDEA staff, and representatives from donor agencies and regional/international organizations as well as members of election management bodies.

EC-UN joint training on climate change
A joint UN-EC pilot training course on the challenges of climate change for the Middle East and North Africa region will be held in Cairo on 27-28 September 2009. The workshop will bring together UN Resident Coordinators and EC Heads of Delegation from the 17 states of the Arab region (Algeria, Bahrain, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, Morocco, Republic of Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syrian Arab Republic, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates) plus the Palestinian Authority.
