Eligibility Criteria for Equator Prize 2004

To be eligible, initiatives must be located within the equatorial belt (23.5° latitude above and below the equator) and in a developing country. For a complete list of eligible countries, please click here

Nominations may be submitted for:

  • Community-based organizations
  • Community-based entrepreneurial initiative
  • Indigenous group
  • Non-governmental organization
  • Other

One of the prizes will be specifically awarded to a community working in partnership with a UNESCO World Heritage Site or other biological reserves for the successful integration of conservation and local livelihoods.
