The International Development Research Centre and the Equator Initiative are jointly engaged in a number of Research and Learning activities that strike at the heart of the complex interface between poverty reduction and the conservation of biodiversity. The International Development Research Centre is a public corporation created by the Government of Canada to help communities in the developing world find solutions to social, economic, and environmental problems through research. Its mandate is closely aligned with that of the Equator Initiative and, together, the two partners are initiating, encouraging, supporting, and conducting research into the problems of the developing regions of the world and into the means for applying and adapting scientific, technical, and other knowledge to the economic and social advancement of those regions.
