22 May 2002:
Biodiversity and the Achievement of the Millennium Development Goals Seminar, New York, USA.

On May 22, in honor of International Biodiversity Day, a meeting was organized by the Equator Initiative in cooperation with the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) to identify mutually supportive linkages between biodiversity, the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Attended by approximately 20 individuals from UN agencies, NGOs, the academic community and other institutions, the meeting started a process of presenting the compelling case for the critical role that conservation, the sustainable use, and the fair sharing of benefits from biodiversity can make to the achievement of the MDGs.
