What issues do the community Shamba address?

Within the general framework of the ecoagriculture conference and its overarching theme of ĀMobilizing Community Ecoagriculture From Local to Global”, the Community Shamba will focus on the following issues:

  • Discussing ecoagricultural techniques across ecosystems and farming systems and identifying successful practices and the factors responsible for their achievements. Some of the key variables that the discussion will analyze will include governance structures, partnerships, and impact of the different initiatives represented in the Shamba.

  • Identifying key factors to build an enabling environment where ecoagriculture initiatives may flourish, including necessary policy or regulatory changes.

  • Designing strategies to scale up successful ecoagriculture practice, with a focus on advocacy and capacity building.

The Community Shamba will provide a comprehensive approach to ecoagriculture topics that will allow community representatives to integrate their perspectives across sectors and to articulate recommendations for moving forward. The outcomes and recommendations that result will present community-oriented and -led strategies and perspectives for advancing local level ecoagriculture practices and achieving global impact.
