Equator Initiative Events
|
On March 14, 2007 partners and friends of the Equator
Initiative gathered at German house for a special evening hosted by the
UN German Mission, BMZ and UNDP. The reasons to celebrate were threefold:
The 25 Equator Prize finalists were announced (Click here to
read about the finalists),
and the Equator Initiative partnered with TribalLink to present to the
Kalinga Mission, a 2004 Equator Prize Winner from the Philippines, a US$20,000
contribution to their newly established Indigenous Women's MicroFinance program. Along
with invited guests learning about this year's prize finalists, and what
previous winners have been working on, the event culminated with the launching
of the new GTZ/UNDP MDG Poster Book (Click here for more information)
and associated software tool for communities to produce their own MDG poster.
To cap off an already lovely night, everyone was invited to take home coffee
from the Equator Prize 2002 winner Café la Selva.

Benson Venegas, Executive Director of Asociación ANAI, explains
the Equator Prize winning
Talamanca Initiative with the aid of an MDG
poster that he developed with assistance from GTZ.
