Mr. Eduardo Aninat served as Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund from December 1999 to June 2003.

Born in 1948, Mr. Aninat has an M.A. and Ph.D. in economics from Harvard University. He has taught Public Finance and Economic Development at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and was an Assistant Professor of economics at Boston University. Mr. Aninat was the Finance Minister of Chile from March 1994 to December 1999. He was the Chairman of the Board of Governors of the IMF and World Bank 1995-96. Mr. Aninat previously served in a range of economic positions in the Chilean Government.

Mr. Aninat is a Contributing Editor of the Institute of the Americas official magazine.
