UNDP has worked in Kyrgyzstan for more than 16 years, making it one of the few organizations in the country with the expertise and capacity needed to work closely with the Government and the Kyrgyz people on the ground.

As part of the UN Flash Appeal, UNDP needs USD 3,951,640 to help address the crisis in Kyrgyzstan:

Sustainable energy supply for priority health facilities and health services: USD 3,741,640

• Through the provision of electrical generators and fuel for generators, as well as heating devices for critical health care facilities and ambulances, UNDP will help ensure that critical health care and life-saving services continue to function.

Coordination of Preparedness Activities and Humanitarian Response: USD 210,000

• Coordination of international and local response, including project implementation, in cooperation with the UN Disaster Response Coordination Unit (DRCU), the regional Rapid
Emergency Assessment and Coordination Team (REACT) and the Office for the Coordination
of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) Regional Disaster Response Office in Almaty; and

• Development of a coordinated early recovery strategy, linking the interventions in the
Flash Appeal with those of the Government’s country development strategy.
