It accounts for 63 percent of the world’s poor and is prone to a variety of natural disasters. UNDP work in Asia-Pacific includes: promoting economic recovery through skills training and microfinance; providing early recovery support in response to natural disasters and helping governments plan for and manage disasters; promoting gender equality; clearing and resettling mined areas; and promoting conflict prevention.
