New Initiative: Strengthening Global and National Capacities for Risk ReductionCapacity for Disaster Reduction Initiative (CADRI) CADRI functions as a knowledge resource and repository for disaster risk reduction capacity development activities to advance thinking, learning and exchange on this issue. This initiative is developing tools for enhancing and sustaining country level capacities. It also seeks to facilitate multi-stakeholder consensus-building processes to agree on priorities for disaster risk reduction. For more information on the initiative please contact Joanne Burke at joanne.burke@undp.org Urban Risk This global initiative is a response to an ever-increasing need for city administrations to consistently factor risk reduction concerns into urban governance approaches and to regulate new construction and the expansion of urban centres in a manner that reduces risk. This initiative promotes urban risk assessments and supports municipal authorities in the strengthening of legislative frameworks and Disaster Risk Management Master Plans for high risk cities.
