Capacity Development for Reporting to the UN Programme of Action on Small ArmsIn 2001, states participating at the UN Conference on the Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons in All Its aspects adopted the UN Programme of Action (PoA) to Prevent, Combat and Eradicate the Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons in All Its Aspects. States also agreed to convene again for global and regional meetings to report on progress they have made in implementing the Programme of Action. All States have been encouraged to submit a report every year on their implementation of the Programme of Action. The national reports already submitted can be found at Reporting Assistance Package Following requests from governments, and in order to assist governments in their reporting on their implementation of the Programme of Action, UNDP and the UN Office for Disarmament Affairs (UN ODA) and the UN Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR) and the Small Arms Survey (SAS) have created a package of reporting assistance tools. This is a full package of reporting assistance tools and includes extensive assistance for reporting, including a suggested template that can be used for completing the report.
