Raul Rosende
Peace and Development Adviser, UNDP, Programme of Assistance to the Palestinian People (PAPP)


Raul has more than 18 years of experience in designing and coordinating conflict resolution and humanitarian programmes in diverse conflict and post-conflict settings. Since starting his current post in 2008, Raul has provided support to the University of Birzeit in Ramallah to strengthen local skills in conflict analysis. He has facilitated collaboration between UNDP and the Carter Center to promote dialogue among political parties on electoral reform, and to build national consensus on electoral matters in the occupied Palestinian territories. He has also engaged with Interpeace, an international non-governmental organization, and with local organizations to promote dialogue between Palestinian political leaders and youth organizations. Prior to this, he supported the United Nations Resident Coordinator for Colombia, working on a range of issues, such as landmines, disaster prevention, community-strengthening and local governance. Before joining UNDP Colombia, Raul advised the Special Representatives to the Secretary-General in the UN missions in Afghanistan and in Guatemala. Before joining UNDP, he worked in the Organization of American States in Nicaragua and Guatemala.

 

Djeidi Sylla
Peace and Development Adviser, UNDP Guinea

In November 2008, Djeidi took up the position of Peace and Development Adviser in UNDP Guinea. Prior to this, he served in various capacities in Mali, in the area of peace and development. He helped facilitate Mali’s first National Forum on Security, Peace and Development in 2005. He was also involved in the preparation and organization of the Kidal Forum in March 2007, which aimed to build peace and lay the foundations for development in Mali’s northern regions. As an adviser to the government, Djeidi supported the development and implementation of the “Shared governance programme for security and peace in Mali,’’ which covered the areas of security, local conflict prevention and management and cross-border cooperation for peace and development.
