Reducing Disaster & Community Preparedness Knowledge Fair, 12-14 December 2006, Barbados

UNDP is implementing a Cross Cultural Network within the Caribbean region, promoting exchanges and cooperation, linking different linguistic communities and the thematic trends of Risk Management and Adaptation to Climate Change. The first Knowledge Fair ‘Reducing Disaster & Community Preparedness: Transferring Experiences and Fostering Cooperation Within the Caribbean’ was mainly oriented toward the English-speaking Caribbean and was held in coordination with the Caribbean Conference on Comprehensive Disaster Management, organized by the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Response Agency. The event brought together more than 120 participants. It generated open exchanges on how to contribute to Risk Reduction, Disaster Preparedness and Adaptation to Climate Change in the region. The second Knowledge Fair ‘Reducing Disaster & Community Preparedness: Transferring Experiences and Fostering Cooperation Within the Caribbean’, will be oriented toward the Spanish-speaking and French-speaking Caribbean, and will take place in the Dominican Republic on 5-9 February 2007.
