The Bratislava Regional Centre concentrates UNDP’s analytical, programmatic, policy advising, and administrative expertise for work in the countries of Central and Southeastern Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). Staffing in mid-2003 was close to 90. The centre is part of UNDP’s Regional Bureau for Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States (RBEC), and it hosts activities of a number of other UNDP and UN agencies as well.
Through projects developed in Bratislava, and by supporting the programming of UNDP’s country offices located in countries in Central and Southeastern Europe (including Turkey and Cyprus), and the CIS, the centre helps United Nations’ member states to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) for poverty reduction and sustainable human development.
