Many
countries are increasingly vulnerable to violent conflicts or
natural disasters that can erase decades of development and further
entrench poverty and inequality. Through its global network, UNDP
seeks out and shares innovative approaches to crisis prevention,
early warning and conflict resolution. UNDP is on the ground in
almost every developing country to help bridge the gap between
emergency relief and long-term development. In addition to its
regular programme activities, UNDP in collaboration with the Macedonian
Government formulated various emergency programmes in order to
effectively respond to the impact of the conflict on the local
population.
In
order to increase the capacity of social structures in affected
communities to sustain the process of recovery and reconciliation,
with the final target to ensure links with longer term development
programmes, UNDP is supporting several projects that provide basic
community services. (...) More information
