The
Bureau of Crisis Prevention and Recovery
BCPR
backstops UNDP’s efforts to factor disaster risk considerations
into national and regional development programmes, and to
ensure countries use post-disaster recovery efforts as opportunities
to mitigate future risks and vulnerabilities. This work
is done primarily through the Disaster Reduction Unit (DRU)
within BCPR.
DRU
provides UNDP Country Offices (CO) ith technical assistance
and financial support for the design and implementation
of disaster reduction srategies and capacity building programmes
addressing a ange of relevant issues. DRU, in doing so seeks
to reduce the risk of disasters in programme countries by
integrating risk reduction into development and increasing
investment in risk reduction.
Nations
and the need for more effective crisis and disaster management
to reduce risks and vulnerabilities in developing countries.
The Crisis Prevention and Recovery Practice Network is a
UNDP platform to exchange knowledge and experience around
crisis prevention and recovery issues. The practice network
is not only an electronic forum for sharing experiences,
but it is also designed to strengthen the professional capacities
of its members.
