Examples of recent projects
In the Tsunami recovery, UNDP is collaborating with local and international
businesses in countries and areas where their financial contributions
and expertise lend a helping hand to people affected by this natural
disaster.

Banyan Tree Resort – Rebuilding Homes in the Maldives
Construction is complete on Naalafushi Island, where UNDP, in collaboration
with the Banyan Tree Resort, helped to repair or reconstruct 74 houses.
The finalized project was handed over to the community in a ceremony
on 12 June. More….
Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Supports UNDP Activities in Tsunami-affected
Countries
Through its member firms, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, one of the world's
leading professional services organizations, has provided the United
Nations Development Programme with pro bono advisory services to help
ensure financial accountability and transparency of the tsunami reconstruction

IBM Partners with UNDP to Compose “Offices-in-a-Box”
IBM provided UNDP with laptops and additional computer memory to equip
mobile Offices-in-a-Box to enhance aid coordination and relief efforts
in the remote areas of Indonesia, the Maldives, and Sri Lanka. The mobile
offices improved telecommunications and the use of computer applications
in the tsunami-affected regions where the lack of local infrastructure
was hampering UNDP’s immediate relief efforts.
PricewaterhouseCoopers Partners with UN Agencies to Enhance
Transparency of the Tsunami-specific Projects
United Nations agencies, including the United Nations Development
Programme (UNDP), have partnered with PwC, who agreed to provide pro-bono
advisory services in the form of loaned professional expertise for UN
activities in the tsunami-affected countries. More…
Rolls Royce – Reconstruction of Livelihood Opportunities
in Thailand
More than 1,200 coastal families in 10 communities in Phang
Nga Bay stand to benefit from an unprecedented collaboration between
UNDP and Rolls-Royce, initiated on 24 June in Bangkok. The partnership
will help create employment opportunities, and assist in the repair
of fishing boats, boat engines, nets and tackle for the affected communities.
