Government of the Republic of Zambia (GRZ)-United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Governance Programme This project builds on previous initiatives implemented by Government from its own resources and those supported by cooperating partners. These initiatives largely focused on technical skills development, pay reform and right-sizing the public service. The current programme provides a comprehensive approach which integrates legal frameworks such as the constitution and capacity development challenges such as results orientation and mindset change
Round 7 TB – Zambia Tuberculosis (TB) Program Stop TB Strategic Plan Implementation Update The aim of the project is to strengthen the national capacity for the response to TB by improving access to both first line and second line anti-TB drugs and facilitate diagnosis through the procurement of the necessary drugs and related diagnostic supplies. The project is supporting the National TB Program (NTP) to strengthen its monitoring and evaluation system. Furthermore, it seeks to increase service delivery capacity among partners by supporting provincial and national technical meetings
Government of the Republic of Zambia– United Nations Joint Programme on Gender Based Violence (2012-2016) The Joint UN Programme aims to support the Government of the Republic of Zambia (GRZ) to implement the provisions of the Convention on the Elimination of All forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), with particular focus on the recommendations on violence against women that are contained in the July 2011 CEDAW concluding observations and the recommendations of the Special Rapporteur on Violence Against Women, its causes and consequences, and to support institutional transformation to facilitate the implementation of the Anti- Gender Based Violence Act 2011 of Zambia
Low Emission Capacity Building Project The aims of the Low Emission Capacity Building (LECB) Project are to develop the capacities (institutional, financial, human, research) required for articulation of a low carbon, climate resilient development pathway.
Adaptation to the effects of climate change and variability in agro-ecological regions I and II. The project emanates from the National Adaptation Plan of Action which highlights the vulnerability of Zambian farmers to the effects of climate hazards, such as, drought, flooding, extreme temperatures and prolonged dry spells. The project aims to mainstream adaptation measures into planning at all levels and test adaptation interventions, such as, water management (water harvesting) to protect and improve agricultural incomes from the effects of climate change.
United Nations Joint Programme on Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction As part of the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF), and within the context of delivering as “One UN”, the United Nations in Zambia developed the Joint Programme on Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction (CCDRR), whose objective is to improve institutional and individual capacities at national and local levels for an effective multi-sectoral and multi-level response to climate change.
