What We Do

UNDP advocates for change and connects countries to knowledge, experience and resources to help people build a better life. We are on the ground in 166 countries, working with them on their own solutions to global and national development challenges. As they develop local capacity, they draw on the people of UNDP and our partners.

As Yemen enters into the most critical phase of the Transition (2012-2014), marked by a series of overlapped processes to be achieved in just 12 months, our vision is to play a leading role specifically during 2012-2014 in addressing urgent tasks and action of the Government Transitional Program for Stabilization and Development (2012-2014) as a result of a Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) agreement that was signed in November 2011 by Yemeni political figures to save Yemen from falling under civil strife trap.

UNDP Yemen 2013

Following the signing of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) peace initiative in November 2011, the Republic of Yemen embarked on a two-year transition agenda. Against this backdrop, the United Nations crafted a Joint UN Framework to Support the Transition in Yemen, from 2012-2014, to provide an important basis for the UN’s assistance during this period.
